You’re not wrong. Face Hero is suitable for all skin types, and is dermatologically tested to be non-comedogenic too. But over the last 10 years we’ve heard from a lot of customers—particularly those dealing with breakouts, redness, excess oil—that they needed a more targeted solution to fight blemishes. Never together. The only thing these two have in common is their iconic name. Think of Clarifying Face Hero as your treatment oil to address pimples, redness, and oiliness, and Face Hero as your nourishing oil to replenish, revive, and arm the skin with antioxidants.
(A complete contradiction, for one.) The term ‘dry’ actually refers to the way the product behaves on the skin, not the substance itself. A dry oil is lightweight, non-greasy, fast-absorbing, and sinks into the skin without leaving a whiff of residue. You’ll see.
If you slot in an exfoliator or mask during the week, Clarifying Face Hero will move down the lineup. Just one spot. (For example! Yep! Clarifying Face Hero plays very well with others. Retinal included. However, if you are experiencing breakouts we recommend simplifying your routine. Stripping it right back to, say, Properly Clean, Clarifying Exfoliator, Clarifying Face Hero, Very Lightweight Moisturiser. Four un-stuff-up-able steps that aren’t going to blitz your already compromised skin barrier.

It's not formulated to be a 'spot treatment' you reach for when a sneaky pimple pops up outta nowhere. The ingredients in Clarifying Face Hero have clinical data to support long-term benefits for congestion with consistent, daily usage.
It’s best to call on a dermatologist for help when treating cystic acne— it’s the largest, angriest, most severe type of acne. Over-the-counter treatments aren’t quite tough enough. But if and when you incorporate harsher products (isotretinoin, retinoids, oral antibiotics) into your routine, Clarifying Face Hero can help support and maintain skin barrier function throughout.
