You might recognise Chiara from the internet—where you’ll find her answering all your pressing skincare questions on TikTok. By day, she heads up Go-To’s video content. By night, she’s a professionally-trained actress, a Bananagrams buff, and an aspiring DJ. Amid this very stacked schedule, she’s also figuring out how to care for her skin when the typical routine just doesn’t stick. So we asked her: How do you skincare?

Any Skincare Advice: If you find a product that your skin likes, STICK WITH IT!! You don’t need to try absolutely everything, as tempting as it is. If you do want to try something new, only try one thing at a time, if you buy heaps of new things then how will you know which of those was working or not working?
Favourite Skincare Ingredient: I think ceramides. I’m all about my skin barrier, so as a dry girl ceramides in my skincare are important.
Skincare Sin: Honestly, it’s having no routine at all, and using products that are probably expired. Eeek!
How Your Relationship With Skincare Has Changed: Oh 100%, I had eczema growing up so I was so aware of my skin and I could never use “fun” skincare and was using lots of steroid creams and would have to wrap my body in glad wrap just to try to trap the hydration. Now, luckily, as an adult I no longer have eczema and have learnt to really be so grateful for my skin when it is good and to be gentle with it. I feel quite aware of my skin because I always have had to be, so I try to listen and give it what it needs and never over do it.
Where Do Your Skincare: Okay so, with my ADHD I forget to do my skincare unless it’s RIGHT in my face, so there are different steps in very specific spots. Cleanser in the shower next to my body wash, vitamin C and SPF next to my toothbrush. Hydrating products and moisturisers live either in a drawer in my cupboard where I get dressed or on my bedside table next to my lamp so it’s the last thing I see.
Why Do You Skincare: I’m not very good at looking after myself and would say I’m pretty tough on myself, doing my skincare feels like the tiny little thing I do every day (or at least when I remember) that shows me I do care about myself. It also feels like a little achievement tick—it’s a task that I’ve completed, which for my ADHD brain that craves routine but struggles so much to have it, it always feels like a tiny self high-five when I actually DO IT!
